The prison guards of Litchfield increasingly fed-up with the changes and threats to their job, and it comes to a head when Caputo goes behind their backs and takes on a new position of power. They go on strike, telling him that the prison needs them more than they need it. Those words prove true when a company comes to fix the fence, and actually end up removing a section of it. The inmates realise this, and do exactly what youd expect: make a mad dash for freedom. In this case, freedom is a huge lake. Theyre cautious at first, unsure of what to do outside of the system, but when Suzanne runs straight in the rest follow behind. Its a fun and uplifting moment, with a happy ending (for now) for many of the characters, including Cindy being fully converted to Judaism, Suzanne reuniting with potential love-interest Maureen, and Sosa being integrated into the group of Poussey et al. It wont last, and theyll no doubt be punished for it, but for 10 minutes or so we were allowed to enjoy their moment of freedom.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
