Orange is the New Black has a real skill for blending heart-wrenching pain and adorable comedy. One of the most obvious devices the writers seem to use for a little light relief is dancing. Whether its someones release day or auditions for the Christmas show, through inmates deaths, corrupt guards, and broken hearts there was always time for inmates to break it down. Some of the most iconic moments in season one were catalysed through the medium of dance. Piper and Alexs synchronised dance both initiated the re-ignition of their relationship, and exposed the lesbian-hating flames under Healy upon Pennsatuckys false claims that shed seen them being, ahem, intimate in the showers. It is through dance, too, that we first discover Suzanne really has waters that run deep when she exhibits ballet moves for her Christmas show audition. Despite the promises made by the teaser that this season will be pretty hardcore, it also hints that this light-heartedness will not be lost. There is dancing, and it looks good. After all, there aint no party like a Litchfield party. Like this article? Pumped for season 2? Let us know in the comments section below.
