With the series of cliffhangers that constructed the ending to season one, it seems inevitable that for the second season, not only will the emotional investment be even higher than ever, but the stakes concerning our protagonists will be even more elevated as our clones find themselves dealing with their own troubles, issues and dangers following a tumultuous first season. At the end of season one, in case you had forgotten, lead clone Sarah had been forced to murder her birth twin, the psychotic Helena, after Helena killed Sarah's ties to her true lineage in her birth mother, only to discover the sinister Dr Leekie and his proclone chief Rachel had ransacked the home of Siobhan Sadler, Sarah's once-adoptive mother and kidnapped both her and Kira, Sarah's young daughter. Clearly things are going to be more important than ever for Sarah as she fights for the truth and the people she cares about. However, the stakes aren't just being raised on Sarah's end; Alison is dealing with having signed a deal with the devil in order to preserve her middle-class idealistic life with her secretly traitorous husband but will soon face 'explosions', according to creator Graeme Manson, as she struggles with her role in friend Aynsley's death, and fan favourite geek Cosima will find herself struggling desperately to find a cure for the mysterious illness that has killed her fellow clones before and is set to do the same with her. Clearly our clone heroines are not in an easy ride and it'll no doubt make for some mesmerising, arresting television.
