Ron Swanson had his own Pyramid of Greatness but if there was such a hierarchy for the best characters on Parks and Recreation then he would surely sit at the very top.
Thanks to Nick Offerman’s deadpan performance as the determined and strong-willed head of the Parks and Rec department, Swanson quickly became the most fascinating character in all of Pawnee, and perhaps even comedy television itself when he first hit our screens in April 2009.
Ron hated working for the government believing they went against his liberal values and he would actively make decisions that would disrupt his own department and colleagues in an attempt to perfect his goal of "bleeding the rotting beast from the inside".
Over 127 episodes and seven seasons of Parks and Recreation we learned quite a lot about a character who was desperately private and didn’t even want anyone to know when his birthday actually was (except Baskin Robbins, they know!), going so far as redacting the date from the government records.
