Peaky Blinders: 10 Best Minor & Supporting Characters

9. Linda Shelby

Alfie Solomons Peaky Blinders
BBC

It's hard to measure the influence that Linda once had on Arthur, because even when Arthur was at his worst she was still able to one of the very few people that could bring him back to reality.

Her whole life on the show is defined by her relationship with the eldest Shelby brother, and though she has never approved of what he or the rest of them do, she doesn't ever ask him to totally stop. Yes, she tries to get Arthur to become a more pious man and to think more about what he does for the Peaky Blinders.

Her presence in the series made for a genuinely compelling story for the Shelby brothers, Arthur was always the psycho, the one who would physically dominate opponents into submission. However, with her in his ear, he does change, he does become a man who believes in God to some degree and suffers with his own allegiance towards God and The Blinders.

Of course, The Blinders would win out but not after tearing Arthur back down to a wreck before it does. It is that which causes Linda to want to leave Arthur and she even tries to shoot him.

The great shame is that Arthur's PTSD and breakdowns are so bad that it really is only Linda who has ever tried to help him out of it.
