Picard: 15 ESSENTIAL Star Trek Episodes To Watch First (And Why)

10. "Family" (TNG - Season 4, Episode 2)

Family matters not just in Fast & Furious movies, but in Star Trek too. And it's definitely going to be a big part of Picard as it was on The Next Generation.

In season 4 episode "Family," we see Picard's family for the first real time as he visits Chateau Picard - clearly an important part of the opening acts of Picard - on shore leave and links up with his brother and nephew. The episode isn't exactly an action-oriented one but it does introduce the idea of Picard heading to the Chateau (which becomes his later on the deaths of his family members) to deal with the fallout of his atrocities as Locutus.

Those events in his past are going to be just important on this new journey as his role in rescuing Romulan refugees in peril and they're a key part of why he ended up retired in the first place.
