This episode is high on the list because it features the monologue that single-handedly turns one of the most despicable characters in Season 1 into one of the most noble, as Jaime Lannister goes into detail on how he became The Kingslayer. His description of how the Mad King Aerys - who was planning on using wildfire to burn Kings Landing and all of its inhabitants - was a real game changer and helped turn Jaime into a legitimate fan favourite. The rest of the episode also has memorable scenes, as Jon breaks his vows and has sex with Ygrette, Tywin announces that Tyrion will marry Sansa and Cersei will marry Loras, and Robb Stark beheads Rickard Karstark for killing two Lannister prisoners.
