9. Jimmy Darmody

Boardwalk Empire
HBO

Spoiler Alert! Jimmy Darmody gets popped at the end of season two.

While he was only on screen for two seasons, the time Jimmy spent was integral to the show and one could argue that Michael Pitt was as much the lead as Steve Buscemi.

As a returning soldier looking to make a name for himself, his actions in the first episode set about the many chains of events that carried over way past his death. Viewers took an immediate liking to the young father and war hero, and his backstory as a child of privilege looking to find something more authentic in life would certainly resonate with millennial audiences today.

While Jimmy did at times present himself as not the most likeable, or even sympathetic of figures, and despite going against Nucky for a bulk of his time on screen, you couldn't help but root for him. Jimmy's conflict with Nucky was a relationship we just wished the two could resolve, as they were the father-son duo that should have been within the series.

Sadly is wasn't meant to be, and Nucky was the one to put Jimmy in the ground. And while it shocked viewers that a major character had died on screen, it was nothing compared to the obvious trauma and guilt that plagued Nucky for future seasons of the show.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
