Ranking Every Episode From Love, Death And Robots
7. Sonnie's Edge
The first entry in the collection manages to adequately set up expectations for the rest of the shorts. Action, sex and foul language are rampant in this sci-fi story of a woman who controls an alien monster in futuristic beast fights. Hyper violent and thrilling throughout, there is no better introduction to Love, Death & Robots than this.
The main attraction here is Sonnie's fight in the ring between her controlled alien beast and an opponent's. In what feels almost like extreme Pokémon, the fight scene is intense and bloody. Exceptional animation keeps us hooked and it ranks as one of the best action sequences in a show that has plenty of them over the first season's 18 episodes.
One negative is the poor voice acting that features rather over-the-top British accents that don't really gel well with the rest of the short's aesthetic. Aside from that, Sonnie's Edge is a great opener for the season.
