Ranking Every HBO Drama Series From Worst To Best
11. Game Of Thrones
Let’s address the elephant in the room right away - yes, the final season of Game Of Thrones was a letdown. Stories were rushed, strange narrative choices were made, some fans wound up downright furious.
Taking this aside, though, what a journey this show was. Beginning as an intriguing political tussle in a gritty fantasy realm, it became an epic of unimaginable scale on the small screen, with dragons, battles, intercontinental voyages, an immense cast, and a staggering amount of incest.
Game Of Thrones brought us unforgettable characters by the truckload, plenty of great performances (and, let’s be honest, some pretty awful ones), and moments of tension, pathos, comedy, romance (incestuous and otherwise), and high drama.
It was inconsistent and at times it dwelt for too long on its less interesting characters, but when it was firing on all cylinders, as it so often was in the first four seasons particularly, it made TV feel like an event again. It was uncompromising, complex fantasy that found a huge audience, which is no mean feat in itself.
