Ranking Every Season Of American Horror Story From Worst To Best
6. Hotel
There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding American Horror Story's fifth season after stalwart Jessica Lange left. However, the series managed to deliver a surprisingly excellent season with Hotel, which introduced the world to Lady Gaga as a legitimate actress. The award-winning singer had some pretty big shoes to fill, but it was no trouble for the chanteuse, who acted her socks off as vampire The Countess.
Hotel had a lot to offer, and it was AHS' first foray into the world of vampires, which paid off really well. What's more, it was very visually pleasing, and highlighted that - despite its pretty appearance - Los Angeles, California can be a very dangerous place.
Hotel is not without its faults, and there were some dull episodes throughout, but the wonderful concept of a haunted hotel opened up many story possibilities for the 12-episode series, and a lot of this potential was, shockingly, realised. Peters was great as seductive serial killer James Patrick March, and Kathy Bates was equally brilliant as Iris.
The season culminated with a tear-jerking finale, which wrapped up the storyline incredibly well. Was it the strongest AHS? No, but it was heaps better than we had it expected it to be.
