Ranking Every Season Of Arrow From Worst To Best
4. Season 5
When the infamous fourth season crashed out with an underwhelming finale, the creative team took it upon themselves to do some major damage control in Season 5. With that, magic was dropped entirely, Oliver and Felicity were romantically separated, Katie Cassidy was brought back as the Earth-2 version of Laurel and the show returned to its more grounded roots.
In the space of just a few episodes, Arrow began to feel like itself once again - and that was before the villain's intricately-plotted revenge scheme came into play. And speaking of that villain, Prometheus was everything that fans could have ever wanted from an Arrow Big Bad. A haunting, revenge-driven ghost from Oliver Queen's past, the masked archer was almost invincible (and not in a corny Damien Darhk kind-of-way) as he provided the show with one of its most compelling storylines ever.
It wasn't flawless but, in spite of a little too much reliance on the newfound Team Arrow format and the odd Season 4-like falter when it came to writing Felicity's character, Arrow had found its spark again. It was a contained plot that never felt too ambitious but, because of its relevance to the titular character, it felt so much more important than its predecessor. Benefitting from the introduction of multiple intriguing new characters - none more so than its villain who was portrayed exquisitely by Josh Segarra - Arrow Season 5 was both a well-paced and thrilling saga that reinvigorated the show.
