Ranking Every Superhero TV Show From Worst To Best

4. Luke Cage

Superhero TV
Netflix

The most recent series to hit on this list, and it's already punched its way to near the top of the pile.

The third series in Netflix and Marvel's build-up to The Defenders, and fourth season of superhero action the pair have delivered, Luke Cage is a continuation of everything we've come to expect from these shows.

The series isn't without issue, with a couple of big problems that mean it's ranked lower than its counterparts. Pacing is a big issue throughout, the show dragging its heels at times and not having much drive. It's particularly a problem in the final third, which is the weakest part of the first season, and combines with the other big issue - a poor villain (and no, not Cottonmouth) who tries to be too many things at once.

It's a shame, because Cage does a lot of things very well. The action isn't as exciting as Daredevil's, but it's befitting of the character and fun to watch, while there are some much bigger themes tackled here. It's very much a black superhero show, and isn't afraid to look at the real world issues surrounding things like the treatment of black men at the hands of police officers. It's a smart and socially aware drama, has Marvel's best use of music since Guardians of the Galaxy, and, with key players such as Mike Colter, Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, and breakout star Simone Missick, has perhaps the best cast of any Netflix Marvel Universe series yet.
