Rick & Morty: 10 Most Insane Gadgets
2. Place-Saving Device
After Morty begged his grandpa for long enough, and insinuated that he couldn't do it, Rick finally built a place-saving device. Just like a video game, Morty could save his place in time, try something new, and then go back to where he saved if he didn't like the results.
He used this new power to try different strategies of talking to Jessica, to have more than his fair share of ice cream samples, and to find a girlfriend he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. However, the technology Rick used to create such a device was far darker than Morty realised.
Rick doesn't respect time travel, and so instead of inventing a device to send Morty back in time, he arguably created an even weirder device, that isolated the moment the button was pressed, found a near-duplicate, equally probable reality, and transported Morty there. This wasn't time travel, it was far more complicated and convoluted.
Since there was already a Morty in each new dimension he was sent to, of which there many, these all suffered gruesome deaths so that Morty C-137 could take their place. This was possibly the most Rick ever challenged himself, and he did it all just to teach Morty a lesson.
