https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkYUDQCYGHA The second series of The Office contained a masterstroke: David Brent is no longer the king of his own office. Neil is in the one in charge, and so friction sets in, as Brent clashes with his boss. It's rare that Brent actually has the upper hand over anyone, but in the episode, 'Appraisals', David comes face to face with Big Keith, who hasn't filled in his form properly. Ewan MacIntosh is fantastic as the dim accountant, but it's Gervais who makes the scene; firstly, asking Keith to elaborate on his banal answers like he's trying to get blood out of a stone, before becoming more and more enraged with his employee's nonchalance towards the appraisal. It's a standout episode from the sitcom, but Brent isn't singling anyone out, given that he's such a good boss... apart from agreeing with Gareth that a unspecified name on his list isn't pulling their weight.
