I'm a little bit biased here, for Steve John Shepherd is my favourite actor in Eastenders, and easily one of my favourite characters ever to grace the show. His character, Michael Moon, is slimy, smarmy and manipulative yet he holds a charming and suave side.

The duplicitous, functioning psychopath is unfortunately set to exit Eastenders later this year so will be looking for new roles. I'm not completely sure how a character like Michael Moon would translate in a drama the style of Ripper Street, its dark tone and moral greyness, but I can't doubt the acting talents at Steve John Shepherd disposal to create a figure that seems perfect for the drama. Steve John Shepherd wouldn't be amiss either inside H Division or playing a sinister villain that opposes DI Reid, a kind of Moriarty role? Or even a corrupt higher-up in British politics or even a scheming corporate type.
