Riverdale: 10 Burning Questions That Must Be Answered In Season 2
2. What If Archie's Dad Doesn't Survive?
As if things weren't complicated enough for good ol' Archie, it's probable that his father will die. Laying in the puddle of blood, Frank Andrews might well pass away, which will force Archie to support himself, as well as handle his football and musical career, not to mention school work, all on his own.
His death is very possible, since Fred Andrews personifies Riverdale. He's the pillar of small-town America - the hard working, blue-collar man, who really believes in goodness and simplicity. His death will mark the end of the town spirit.
The series showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that Fred's death makes a lot of sense, because if the main character is supposed to develop, he needs to constantly encounter various obstacles. While his subsequent comparison of Archie to Batman is a bit of a stretch, it's hard to argue with that statement.
