Scrubs: 10 Worst Characters Who Appeared After Season 1

7. Paul Flowers

First Appearance: Season 2 Episode 15 - His Story

Paul Flowers could have escaped the bounds as being one of Scrubs' worst characters for many reasons;

He was a level-headed character who burst on the scene as Elliot's charming new beau, and unashamedly owned his role as a male nurse (Paul came at a time when male nurses were a profession that warranted ridicule, apparently).

Paul rolled with and tempered Elliot's obsessive habits almost expertly, and while Scrubs was already teaming with delightful side-characters popping up here and there, Paul's position as a recurring voice of reason could have been welcomed in future seasons of the show. His character worked so well with the manic Elliot, the two could have had a sweet repartee with one another for quite some time.

But there in lies a problem; Paul had compatibility with exclusively Elliot, and none of the other main characters. Paul didn't belong in the Scrubs universe; as a character far too intense, his interactions with the likes of Todd, Dr. Kelso and even Dr. Cox, made him look like the crazy, unhinged one.

Paul seemed to be actively hostile toward the other characters too; while he was quick to valiantly defend Elliot against Dr. Cox, the fact that he got so awkwardly close in the personal spaces of characters when confronting them was strangely unsettling to watch.

Ultimately, Elliot dodged a bullet with the controlling Paul. A retrospective look confirmed red flags we really should have seen earlier.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
