Even though many fans of the show were desperate to see Jerry and Elaine finally get together, it was the last thing those who created Seinfeld wanted.

Jerry and Elaine were never supposed to end up together, though we were given a few moments where it looked like the pair would finally become a couple. Season 2 saw the duo come up with a deal that would allow them to have sex and not tarnish their friendship. Of course, this ended up becoming too difficult, so they decided to become a couple... which lasted only until the next episode, when they were suddenly just friends again.

Jerry even proposed to Elaine at one point when experiencing a moment where he felt his emotions strongly. By the time Elaine decides to accept, Seinfeld is already back to his usual self. Even in the very last episode, when it looked like they were about to all die in a plane crash, we are teased that Elaine is going to declare her love for Jerry. Only for the plane to land safely and Elaine instead announce her love for United Airlines instead.

Ultimately, Jerry and Elaine are too good as friends to end up as a couple. They may know each other pretty well, but how much do you know about them?
