She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode Five Review - 6 Ups & 3 Downs

8. Down - Jokes About Jen's Appearance

Self-deprecation is an incredibly effect way of getting a laugh in TV shows. She-Hulk has been the butt of a lot of jokes throughout the series, and there will be more on such jokes that actually landed in the Ups section, but not all did.

Since working at GLK & H, Jen has been stuck for clothing, and has struggling to find something to wear that fits both her human and Hulk frames. Realistically this doesn’t matter, as she is happy in herself, but episode five really tore into her for it.

Jen’s confidence was all but shattered in episode four after receiving very few matches on her own dating profile, while seeing her dating numbers go through the roof as She-Hulk. She even had one jerk literally walk out on her when he saw her as Jen. After such a pummelling, did she really need such a battering about her clothes now?

A jab in court from Titania was to be expected, but surely her friends could have pulled their punches a little? A joke here and there is fine, but after so many about the same thing it started to feel a little like overkill after a while.
