10. He's Indestructible!

The most hotly-anticipated part of Sherlock€™s third series was the explanation of how Sherlock faked his death. While we saw three explanations across The Empty Hearse, one seems to be the actual solution although it is left a little unclear.

The best chance we had for a straight answer was when John himself asked Sherlock how he did it. Sherlock€™s reply? €œYou know my methods, John. I am well known to be indestructible.€

This line that handily avoids the question is a nod to the 1969 Holmes movie A Study In Terror. The climax of this Sherlock vs Jack the Ripper film sees Holmes trapped in an inferno with no escape€ Until the next scene shows him safely at home in Baker Street. When asked how he got out, he replies with the above line.
