Sherlock: 7 Predictions For The Christmas Special

2. A Return For Moriarty

Yes, Andrew Scott, we did miss you. The question is, how much longer are we going to keep on missing you?

The return of Moriarty was teased at the end of series 3, with his face popping up all over the place to ask the question of Sherlock, and it is assumed that somehow he€™ll be coming back from the dead.

While it€™s most likely the character will be returning in series 4 - if he does actually €˜return€™ as such, rather than it being a beyond-the-grave plot he had set-up - he could still appear in the special, even if it isn€™t connected to the main series.

Fans want to see Andrew Scott back in Sherlock, and this gives them the chance to do it and have some fun with it, without having to be concerned with implications for the bigger picture stuff. It€™d be a totally teasing, fan-baiting moment, but Moffat isn€™t above such things, and a Victorian version of the character (or he could even play someone else, maybe just making a little cameo) would be a nice Christmas present for viewers.
