Sherlock Season 4: 20 Easter Eggs & References From The Six Thatchers
10. Jabez Wilson
One quick client Sherlock has in this episode doesn't appreciate Sherlock's gifts. Though initially impressed by his deductions, once Sherlock explains his methods, the client laughs them off. "I thought you'd done something clever," he says. "But now you've explained it, it's dead simple, innit?"
This sounds very similar to something said by Jabez Wilson in Doyle's The Adventure of The Red-Headed League. "I thought at first that you had done something clever," Wilson says in the story. "But I see that there was nothing in it, after all."
The original character doesn't try on his wife's bras, though, as we find out this fella does.
