Sherlock Season 4 Finale: 13 Dumbest Moments From 'The Final Problem'

9. Mycroft Is A Complete Idiot

Sherlock Watson 221B Baker Street Explosion
BBC

Mycroft has managed to work his way right to the very top level of government (in some shadowy form, anyway), which is particularly impressive when you consider he's a bit of an idiot - or so this episode makes out.

However, here we see that his monitoring of Eurus has been a total failure, that he allowed her a private audience with Moriarty (with predictably disastrous results), that he lied to his parents and Sherlock about Eurus for years, and then had her return to Sherrinford, the 'secure' facility she was more than capable of breaking out of before.

For the smart Holmes brother, that's a hell of a lot of oversights and mistakes. And all this despite his remarkably young rise, which saw him know where his sister - still a child - was being held even when his parents didn't.
