The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Deaths (So Far)

1. Maude Flanders

In "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily", tragedy struck at a speedway race when Homer attempted to get the attention of a squad of cheerleaders who were firing t-shirts out of a cannon. When the cheerleaders obliged and fired the cannon in Homer's direction, the yellow buffoon ducked at the last minute to pick up a bobby pin, and the cluster of t-shirts hurtled past him and smacked Maude €“ who had gone to buy hotdogs €“ off the top of the grandstand and to her death on the ground below. To make matters worse, Maude may even have been saved had Homer not again put his foot in it by parking his car in the ambulance zone, delaying the paramedics and preventing any quick resuscitation. The death left Ned devastated and children Rod and Todd motherless, while no major Simpsons character has been killed off in the 14 years since Maude's demise. That will all change later this year.
