The Simpsons: 20 Awesome Easter Eggs And References
4. Simpsorama
Episode: Replaceable You (S23, E4) An entire episode fusing the worlds of The Simpsons and Futurama may be scheduled to come out later this year, but using The Simpsons to refer to its sister show is by no means a new thing. Easter Eggs pertaining to the other show created by Matt Groening are incredibly common. We have seen Futurama posters, Fry showing up in a couch gag and ter wearing a Futurama fan shirt. However, our personal favourite is this one from 'Replaceable You'. When Bart and Martin decide to build a robotic baby seal for the science fair, Popular Robotics magazine is their first port of call. Who should be defiantly printed on the front of the publication other than Groening's most famous robot Bender, typically puffing away at a Cuban cigar? It's one of the less obvious Futurama references but it's a nice little nod. It should be stated that these references are by no means one way traffic. Groenings sci-fi cartoon boasts many Simpsons-themed Easter Eggs of its own, for example when Fry and the gang discover a dumped mound of Bart Simpson dolls.
