3. Skinner The Impostor - "The Principal And The Pauper" (9.2)
It wasn't just plainly ridiculous that Principal Skinner turned out to be an impostor in season nine's "The Prince and the Pauper" - it was an insult to fans of the show, many of whom turned on The Simpsons when they realised that this ill-judged plotline - which reveals the Principal as a man named "Armin Tamzarian" - was for real. Voice actor Harry Shearer was notably peeved about the decision, too, calling out the show's writers for messing with nine years of continuity for no good reason. Here here!
