The Simpsons: 30 Greatest Ever Opening Credits Gags

19. The Bart-eux Tapestry

This couch gag is an amazingly faithful parody of the famous 11th century Bayeux tapestry, which was made to document the battle of Hastings in 1066. In this version, rather than battling for the English throne, the Simpsons take on the Flandereses, who have stolen their beloved couch. In one scene, Halley's Comet is even flying over Ned Flanders in his castle. Major props for historical accuracy. They really thought of everything. First aired: January 6 2008 Episode: E Pluribus Wiggum
