The Simpsons: Edna Krabappel’s 10 Greatest Moments

9. Edna Sexes The Sushi Chef €“ One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish

The Simpsons Edna Sushi Chef Edna's lust for male flesh has usually had no consequences for the wider health and well-being of the Springfield population, but here there is trouble afoot. The high school teacher's back-seat preoccupation with the 'skilled hands' of the sushi chef at The Happy Sumo leads to the shoddy and inadequate preparation of Homer's potentially deadly fugu dish. Of course, Homer shouting 'I WANT FUGU!' at the top of his voice cannot have helped, but undoubtedly had the masterful fugu chef been at his station, Homer may not have been faced with a possible 22 hours to live. If this were a real life scenario, Edna may have been consumed with guilt and convinced herself to live a pure and chaste life. But it's not, and she remained free to spread herself around. It's still a great scene though €“ an enjoyable counterpoint to the image of Homer facing his own mortality. Edna has no lines, and her face only comes into shot for two lightning fast moments while she engages in the throes of passion with her lover for the evening. Yet her more trashy side is perfectly summed up with no words at all, aside from the chef's lustful description of her hair smelling so clean. I'm sure she's heard better lines.
