2. The Low Number Of Returning Characters
When news began to trickle through about casting for Series 7, it was disappointing to say the least. Most fans had hoped for each episode focussing on one Generation but as time went by, it became clear that this wouldnt be the case. Though, in hindsight, including all the characters from one generation in one or two episodes would have been somewhere between tricky and impossible. Then the final casting was announced and it was revealed that only five characters would be appearing, with two having only minor roles. The low number of characters seems like it was caused by circumstance more than anything else since most of the actors have moved onto other things, and its almost as if the specific characters that are given Series 7's main storylines were chosen more on the basis of which actors were available than on which character would provide a good story. Of course, this is just conjecture and there could be a huge number of factors at play but the point stands that bringing back such a low number of characters for the last episodes does make for something of a disappointing end to the past six years of Skins.
