5. Dead Cops Mean Trouble For Everyone

Here's a prime example of the house of cards tumbling around the club: Jax retaliates against the man who struck his mother, which lead to Sheriff Jerry putting the word out that she wants to have a word with Jax and Chibs. So as the guys are on their way to meet with Tully's goons to show them the heroin, officers Cane and Eglee spot them and pick up the pursuit. They decide to observe from afar and, when spotted by the members of the Aryan Brotherhood, the AB goons open fire, killing Cane instantly and critically wounding Eglee, leaving her for dead. Historically, Charming PD and SAMCRO have been able to somewhat coexist through an uneasy understanding, with both groups having the overall safety of their town as a priority, but when police officers start getting gunned down that willingness to look the other way is going to evaporate. And Unser, who has always been fond of Officer Eglee, is realizing just what a cancer the Sons are on Charming. That will likely cause his pursuit of Tara's killer to intensify, and he may play a big role in the eventual unraveling of the club.
