When Matthew Jennings used one of the Sons of Anarchy's guns to kill four children at his school, District Attorney Tyne Patterson was in charge of getting to the bottom of it. With the help of Lee Toric, the lunatic she gave a badge to, the Sons and Nero became her top targets.

She openly admitted that she didn't care who took the blame for the gun, just as long as someone did. She was after a scapegoat rather than actual justice. She leaned on both Nero and Tara for intel on the club, and considered the latter bad until she did something good. That's the exact opposite of how law enforcers should look at civilians.

Driven towards the idea of blaming SAMCRO, she continued to press Nero with a murder charge for which he was innocent, and she tried to get Tara to talk so she could restart the RICO case that once hung over the club's heads.

While many of the law enforcers in Charming used dirty and underhanded tactics, Patterson was smarter than that. She bent the rules slightly to try and get answers and further her own career, but she never truly crossed a line like certain others did.
