Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. welcomed de Matteo to its cast for a one-episode turn as the scalpel-fingered Karla Faye Gideon in the back half of its second season this March, three months before she showed up in the film Dark Places, which also starred Charlie Theron, Nicholas Hoult and Corey Stoll.
Coming up, she has a spot in Sons co-star David Labrava's Street Level, the Ally Walker-directed Sex, Death and Bowling and next year's horror-thriller The Other. Later this year, you can see her as part of the main cast in NBC's Jennifer Lopez-led procedural drama Shades of Blue, in which de Matteo plays, according to Variety, "Shirley Nazario, a tough, outspoken mother of three and cop who holds her own with the men in her crew, yet covers her insecurities with her brashness. She insists that family comes first, but her suspicions and paranoia threaten to upend her personal life."
