South Park: Kenny’s 12 Greatest Deaths

10. Inhabits The Body Of Rob Schneider

South Park
Columbia Pictures

Previous episodes have toyed with the idea that, far from simply being an accident-prone little boy, Kenny is somehow destined to die over and over again. Parker and Stone come as close as they ever have to confirming that mythology (as much as you could say South Park has such a thing) in Season Six’s The Biggest Douche In The Universe.

Following Kenny’s “permanent” death, his spirit has entered the body of Cartman, who is desperate to rid himself of the ghost of his friend. In due course he is exorcised by Chef’s parents, and the essence of Kenny eventually makes its way into a pot roast.

Actor and Adam Sandler collaborator Rob Schneider in turn eats said roast, and quickly meets a sticky end, a la Kenny. The fake trailers for various terrible Rob Schneider movies is the episode’s best running gag, and the pay off (“Rob Schneider is… Kenny!”) is the icing on the cake for a show moving into arguably its greatest period.

To suggest that South Park has anything approaching a lore is likely taking a daft show too seriously, but it’s another example of the quality of these characters that you can even make such an assertion in a remotely credible fashion.
