Squid Game had all the bases covered when it came to competition. You had games to test your brain, dexterity, cleverness and even luck. Still, one of the most compelling challenges relied on the use of strength. Seeing as most of our leading characters were shown to be physically weaker than others, this became one of the most frightening games.
Tug of War is a contest you're likely familiar with, but for anyone unaware, it consists of two teams standing on either end of a rope and pulling as hard as they can to bring the other side towards them. Of course, as this is Squid Game, there was an additional stipulation: a giant platform that saw you drop to your death should you lose the battle.
This game captured all the best elements of the show. It took a simple contest, made it deadly by raising the stakes, and delivered a visual feast. Plus, the teamwork of the leading characters led to an incredibly cathartic win, making for one of the show's most exciting moments.
The Tug Of War contest was well-thought-out and led to many a tense moment, so it truly deserves top marks.
