Star Trek: 10 Most Underrated Characters

6. Lwaxana Troi

Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed, Lwaxana Troi was one of the Star Trek franchise's most decorated characters. Unfortunately, she was also one of its least loved. There's no accounting for taste, we guess.

Lwaxana was a brilliant diplomat and nurturing mother, yet her eccentric and candid personality provided some of The Next Generation's most iconic comic relief.

Admittedly, she could be overbearing on occasion, but her relationship with Deanna was deeply heartfelt. She only wanted the best for her daughter, and it showed.

Lwaxana's telepathic abilities led to more than a few uncomfortable exchanges about the Enterprise. Who didn't enjoy seeing the normally unflappable Picard going out of his way to avoid Lwaxana? Truly, he had met his match.

If that weren't enough, Lwaxana's Deep Space Nine appearances added further depth to her character. Her sensitivity and kindness towards Odo, not to mention his awkward reaction to her advances, made their relationship one of the show's most underrated pairings.

While trapped in a turbolift in "The Forsaken", Odo reverts to his liquid state, something he's never done in front of another person, and Lwaxana reveals that she in fact wears a wig. As far as moments of vulnerability in Star Trek go, it's hard to top.
