Another sequence that was storyboarded but dropped from the pilot episode before production began would've shown off the La Sirena's previous life as a cargo hauler, depicting the final stages of Rios' mission prior to hooking up with Picard, Raffi, and Agnes.

Because the scene was visualized with the La Sirena towing train car-like cargo pods behind her, the previously designed propulsion systems of the ship were revised to accommodate the cargo and a complex coupling system was devised.

According to Mark Yang:

The main connection point, in my head, was the hitch above the cargo bay door that connects to whatever vessel or equipment you attached. There are potential connect points on either side of that. You can connect human size entry points soy can walk through to whatever cargo you have.

Despite the cargo hauling sequence being cut from the episode, the La Sirena's hitch did remain part of the ship's design, with a large cargo bay door at the bottom of the aft section, a connection system and passthrough above it, and two large prongs above those intended to physically attach cargo.
