7. The Enterprise's Bridge Was Angled Several Degrees To The Port Side

If you're watching the show you probably imagine that the viewscreen is facing the bow, or front, of the ship. But, it's actually angled toward the port side by several degrees. And, the turbo-lift positioned behind the captain's chair lines up with the bow and stern of the ship.

The reason behind this had to do with the way the series was filmed. Producers didn't want Shatner to have to turn 180 degrees to face an actor coming from the turbo-lift. But, on the exterior shots the turbo-lift is positioned on the center of the saucer section.
