2. Family Line
Ben Sisko has one of the most explored lineages in Star Trek. It is also one of the most significant given that his mother was one of the Prophets.
Married twice, first to the late Jennifer and then to Kasidy Yates, DS9 would also reveal that the future station commander would have a half-sister and two brothers. These siblings were only mentioned in dialogue.
Sisko's father, Joseph, was played by To Kill a Mockingbird star Brock Peters, with more than one visit home to the Sisko family restaurant in New Orleans. Sisko is also the only Star Trek captain to be introduced as a father and a sole parent also.
It would only be during the making of the seventh and final season of the show that the writers decided to make Sisko part Prophet. His mother, Sarah, was used by the Prophets specifically to create The Sisko before being released from their control.
There was another side to Sisko on screen. As noted in The Fifty Year Mission: The Next 25 Years by Mark A Altman and Edward Gross, Avery Brooks is quoted, regarding The Visitor:
