Despite its questionable canonicity, Star Trek Online has proven to be an incredibly popular game within the fandom, who have spent the last 14 years exploring every facet of the MMORPG's various chapters and missions.

Beginning 22 years after the destruction of Romulus (As seen in the original timeline of 2009's Star Trek movie), the game sees the galaxy at war, as the Federation hating J'mpok murders Martok and takes the Chancellorship. Tearing up The Khitomer Accords, J'mpok plunges the Empire into aggressive expansion, swallowing territory from both the Gorn and the beleaguered Romulans, coming to blows with the Federation over their violent hostility.

Unbeknownst to J'mpok, Martok is alive, and is rescued by the player in the mission Brushfire. Although he does not seek to return to his position in charge of the council, he resumes the rank of General and accompanies the player on many missions, including the overthrow of J'mpok alongside the new Chancellor, a clone of Star Trek Discovery's L'Rell.

Just another normal day on Qo'noS then.
