Star Trek: 10 Times Aliens Influenced Human History
5. Jack The Ripper
When Scotty was falsely accused of murdering a woman on the planet Argelius II in the Original Series episode Wolf In The Fold, the Enterprise and the local government conducted an investigation to prove his innocence.
After two more women were killed, the murderer was revealed to be a powerful energy being named Redjac, capable of possessing both people and computers.
The crew was able to work out that the entity had been travelling through the galaxy for centuries, possessing people and causing some of the most brutal murders in history. Redjac was known by the names Beratis on Rigel IV, Kesla on Deneb II, and Jack the Ripper on Earth.
Jack the Ripper was the name given to a real-life unidentified serial killer of women from 19th century London. Perhaps the most well-known mass-murderer of all time, Jack the Ripper became feared across the entire country because of the sheer number of killings and how gruesome his methods were (much worse than what we saw in Wolf In The Fold).
According to the episode, the entity was also responsible for a number of other killings across Earth (and even Mars at some point), before later leaving the planet and eventually ending up on Argelius II.
