Star Trek: 10 Worst Things Data Has Ever Done

7. Kivas Fajo

The one that might be a good thing, might be a bad thing.

The story of The Most Toys is well known among fans especially thanks to its epically eye-opening conclusion.

Through the episode Data is acquired by Collector, Kivas Fajo who is obsessed with unique items. The Soong type android very obviously falls into that category and through faking Data's death, Fajo sits him in pride of place. Literally.

Fajo turns out to be a spoiled, selfish, emotionally detached humanoid with no care for anything other than his collection, ultimately killing the person closest to him.

But it's what happens as Data returns that really piques the interest of fan because, as is noted in the episode, there appears to be weapons fire coming from the transporter beam as he is beaming out. It raises the question as to whether Data fired the Varon-T Disruptor or it genuinely had an overload in transport.

We may never know but there are a few things to think about here. One is that Data may have intentionally tried to take a life and if he did it also means he has openly lied to Riker. Could this be an emotional response perhaps?

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
