Star Trek: 11 Greatest Unfinished Story Ideas

8. The Unification Of Vulcan And Romulus (TNG: Unification) In 1991 Star Trek was celebrating its 25th anniversary, for which TNG planned to celebrate with the crossover event that fans had wanted since its premier in 1987: the two-part episode Unification. In it Spock believes that after centuries apart the Vulcan and Romulan people's future lies together as one united nation. After his plan is thwarted, Spock decides to continue to work with the underground unification movement in the hope that one day his vision of a peaceful coexistence can be realized. And then . . . Regrettably there never was an "And then . . ." A storyline rife with such game-changing ramifications certainly warranted some sort of additional chapter. An episode dealing with the political fallout between the Federation and the Romulan Empire would have gone a long way toward combating the feeling that this was in effect a "reset button" episode. In this instance, having no follow-up feels like a missed chance at something great. " 'There are always possibilities,' Spock said." It's just a shame that a continuation to Unification wasn't one of them.

I've been a huge sci-fi fan ever since going to see "Star Wars" at the tender age of 3 (and yes I actually do remember it! I love pretty much any intelligent and entertaining film and television series (some of my all time favorites are 2001, Lawrence of Arabia, Battlestar Galactica [SyFy], and The West Wing). Must thank the stars above for such things as HBOGO and Netflix (Am thoroughly enjoying Ripper Street btw). I've also been an avid comic book collector since childhood. I earned a bachelor's degree in creative writing with a second emphasis in film studies from Florida State University (Go Noles!) and definitely enjoy sitting back and watching pretty much any sports. I wish I had a joke to end with, but I don't so I'll simply say "The End."
