Star Trek: 15 Greatest Ever Time Travel Episodes
14. E2 - Star Trek: Enterprise
Enterprise might have (lots of) detractors, but it was capable of some episodes that rightly belong in the pantheon of the very best in the show's history. It's just that the reverse can be said of the more pedestrian episodes, too.
Season 3 was a difficult experience all round thanks to some iffy overall story-telling choices (mostly to do with space terrorism), but E2 was a stand-out of the entire show in an ocean of mediocrity. Again, it involves an alternate version of the Enterprise (always a winning story decision) from a possible future.
It's a legacy ship, staffed by the kids of the current crew, which is a nice idea, and there's more than enough originality to breath fresh life into a very familiar model. In playing with the idea of a dystopian future and effectively making it the past, the story's new dynamic is gripping and very clever, and we get a sort of Back To The Future style resolution of fixing a broken future timeline.
