Star Trek: 4 Reasons We Need A Klingon Animated Series

1. There€™s Already A Klingon Crew

The hardest part of making a TV show or show or movie is coming up with the characters, who they are, and what their stories are, and with a high risk project like a Klingon animated series, why not earn some brownie points with the executives and some of the fans by going with an adaptation? After all, there€™s plenty of Trek literature out there, a lot of it featuring Klingons. But are there any books that are about a Klingon crew, on a Klingon ship, doing the kinds of things that would be worth putting on TV? The answer is yes. Diplomatic Implausibility, The Brave and The Bold duology, and the IKS Gorkon/Klingon Empire novels, all by Trek author Keith R.A. DeCandido, fit the bill. Featuring Captain Klag of the IKS Gorkon, Riker€™s Klingon friend from TNG€™s €œA Matter of Honor,€ and a mix of TNG/DS9 and original characters (with frequent guest appearances from Worf and Chancellor Martok), DeCandido€™s books are the best look at TNG-era Klingons Trek has ever produced. With the usual Klingon drama, sex, space battles, sword fighting, and politics, the IKS Gorkon saga is tailor made to hit the small screen and give us a whole new perspective on the Trek universe. Think a Klingon and/or animated series is the wrong way to go? Think some other race or good old Starfleet is what televised Star Trek needs? Feel free to drop a comment and let the discussion flow!
