Star Trek New Series: 10 Reasons It Should Be Captain Worf

8. People Are Already Invested in The Character...

Ever met a Star Trek fan that didn€™t like Worf? No, me neither. Usually, it takes quite a while for fans to really get into a TV series. However, with €˜Captain Worf€™, the fan interest is already there. Star Trek fans universally LOVE Worf and would likely be extremely eager to revisit the character. From the moment this (amazingly, last-minute) addition to TNG€™s crew compliment debuted, he has been incredibly popular with fans. This is partly due to the fact that everybody loves a Klingon, but mainly it is thanks to a winning combination of great writing and Michael Dorn€™s magical portrayal of the character. Building a world around an older (and wiser) Worf would certainly generate (and hold) fan interest. In addition, making the show a very fan friendly series, via the use of online polls regarding which aliens ought to return/which characters could come back, for example, would make good use of social networking and likely do brisk business for the hypothetical show.

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
