Star Trek Picard: 5 Ups & 5 Downs From Episode 2 'Maps And Legends'

3. The Forced F-Bombs

In a move that's sure to either have you laughing or groaning, episode two features not one but two uses of the "F-word," because Picard's a grown-up show that isn't constrained by the outmoded fancies of network TV! F**k yeah!

The first profanity drop occurred when Laris referred to whoever scrubbed Dahj's apartment as "cheeky f**kers" - or if we're being precise, "cheeky feckers," with actress Orla Brady gleefully invoking her native Irish twang.

The more cringe-worthy invocation came later in the episode when Picard visits Admiral Clancy for help, and she rebuffs him with, "The sheer f**king hubris."

While some might feel it's contextually appropriate, it also reeks of a certain desperation for the show to be viewed by audiences as Serious Drama for Adults, rather than the broader sci-fi fare that it actually is.
