Star Trek: Picard - 7 Ups & 2 Downs From Episode 4 'Absolute Candor'

1. Persistence Is Futile

Picard Soji Narek
CBS

One gripe I'm happy to say isn't petty though was the decision to pull back on the Soji's story with The Borg. Last week it felt like the ball had finally gotten rolling on her mysterious origins and disastrous connections to the collective, but this week it didn't really feel like we advanced that at all. Some hints at her not being on the original passenger manifest, Narek calling her "the destroyer", but that's it.

Normally this, again, wouldn't be too bad in isolation, but given that Picard has really struggled to give appropriate screentime to its major story beats (it's been far more concerned with laying the groundwork for what's to come) it was frustrating not to see the one big development advanced substantially this week. 4 episodes in now and we're still no further ahead with the story than we were when we started.
