Star Trek: Picard - 7 Ups & 2 Downs From Episode 4 'Absolute Candor'

Picard Episode 4
CBS

Star Trek: Picard is not a show about Starfleet or the Federation. Like the other parts of space that exist outside of their jurisdiction, it's lawless and more dangerous. The greatest example of this has been the show's lead. Picard is frequently shown to be (both in the present and the past) a piece of s**t.

Yes, his motives are often sound and there's no doubting his heart is in the right place, but his actions have carried severe consequences since the end of The Next Generation and it's refreshing to see the show's supporting cast routinely call him out on it. For all The Way of Absolute Candor made for a janky opening, the scene it provided at our midpoint was a terrific breakdown of our leading man's failings.
