5. The Borg

The Borg are easily one of the best things about Star Trek. They were, sadly, not one of the best things about Star Trek: Picard.

It's maybe more a case of unrealistic expectations (more on that later) but the show's decisions to feature them so prominently in the marketing and the opening episodes set the bar higher than they were ever going to live up to. We think of them as an unstoppable, all-conquering force but, here, they were set dressing.

It's understandable, given that the story was ostensibly not about them, but they're such an integral part of Picard's story I think we all expected a showdown with them at some point. In the end, Picard faced his own internal demons over them, and not the collective itself.
